Subject: | OGG |
Hello!
I just wondered, if any coder would like to port the ogg-format to our
beloved AmigaOS? For those, who don't know, what the ogg-format is - on the
http://www.vorbis.com website, they say:"Open, Free Audio Ogg Vorbis is a
completely open, patent-free, professional audio encoding and streaming
technology with all the benefits of Open Source."
Well, and a friend of mine and I have tried it on PC and when comparing it
to other MPEG encoders, like Blade or Lame, OGG was compressing the same
WAVs half the time and they have been a lot smaller, but with excellent
quality!
I know, that OGG is kind of available for the Amiga already as it is
supported by the AmigaDE editor, 'SoundsCool'. But what about
OS.3.x/MorphOS? There's also a plugin available for WinAMP - what about
AmigaAMP? ;)
I will ask Thomas Wenzel about that. Anyone working on a port?
Best wishes,
Richard Kapp
